What does the Special Education Inclusion model look like at QMS?
Inclusion refers to students who receive support in the general education classroom. In the middle school, grade 6 teachers provides instruction and meets learning goals, while the paraprofessional works with specific students (ultimately supports all students within the classroom). The general education teacher and the paraprofessional are tasked with the responsibility of meeting student accommodations, meeting/achieving goals and objectives as outlined within the student's IEP, and ensuring that the student adjusts well socially.
*Due to the fact the student IEP's are individualized...the appropriate special education model for your child will be outlined to you at the IEP meeting. This information serves to provide parents with general information and the programs, model, and descriptions may be subject to change from school year to school year.*
What does the Special Education Partial-Inclusion model look like at QMS? Partial-Inclusion refers to students who receive support at the middle school each day for 50 minutes in a small group setting with a special education teacher. The small group setting works on the grade level curriculum, but at a slower pace, including appropriate modifications and/or accommodations.

Kick-Off to QMS!!
A program specifically designed to support all grade 5 special education students entering grade 6.
A program specifically designed to support all grade 5 special education students entering grade 6.
The special education transition program will take place toward the end of the school year and allow students to ask a variety of questions regarding QMS. The main goal is to put our students at ease for what is going to be a major transition as well as to meet some of the friendly QMS staff that they may be interacting with next year. The question and answer session is designed for special education students only and will take place during normal school hours. With an hour to work with, it is incredible the number of questions that are answered. In the past, students have walked away with a much greater understanding of life at QMS and felt a greater sense of confidence feeling better prepared to enter middle school.
